Our Inspiration for Mission

Annie (working with women and children at risk of exploitation and trafficking): This is what the Lord says, "In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, 'Come out,' and those in darkness, 'Be free!' (Isaiah 49:8-9)

Jeff (working with Annie as a Bible Teacher/Chaplain for the women and staff at NightLight; Adjunct Faculty teaching Urban Transformation at four different seminaries in Bangkok): Of those he gathered from the lands, from the east and west, from the north and south; some wandering in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them to a city where they could settle . . . out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains. (Psalm 107:4-7, 14)

Our Journey So Far

Annie grew up all around the world, with her most formative years in Africa as the daughter of International Ministries ABC/USA missionaries Vern and Dathene Stanley. Jeff grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati and was very active at Kenwood Baptist Church (ABC/USA) where his father and mother (Ron and Jenny Dieselberg) were long-time faithful members.

About Our Ministry: NightLight / Bangkok

The Calling:

NightLight: a ministry in urban Bangkok, which reaches out to women and children working in the bar areas of Nana/Sukhumvit. Located in a neighborhood with a growing sex trade, NighrLight’s vision is to share the Light of the world in both word and deed to those who live in darkness.

The Response and Goals:

To Combat the sexual exploitation of Women and Children (Thai and Foreign) in the Nana/Sukhumvit area.

Through life-on-life ministry, NightLight’s goal is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women in prostitution, their children, and those children brought illegally in Thailand to financially support their families by selling items in the bars and often through sexual exploitation. These goals will be met through building relationships with women and children who work in the sex trade industry along the Nana/Sukhumvit area and by providing a center that offers emergency aid, educational and employment opportunity, emergency child-care, language tutoring, literacy training, and biblical teaching and healing for their community.

We will achieve these goals through ...

1. Economic/Educational Opportunities: Providing alternatives through job training and education.
2. Lifeskills training: To provide opportunities to train women and children on the risks of working in the sex trade and how to access the help they may need.
3. Public Awareness and Involvement: To educate the public, Thai and foreign (religious and secular), of the physical, psychological, legal and economic consequences of prostitution and trafficking and to encourage their involvement in advocacy and follow-up care of the women and children.
4. Relational Evangelism: To introduce women and children to the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, to disciple them into a strong faith as people who will then impact their communities.

About Annie and Jeff Dieselberg

Annie and Jeff met and were married at Alderson-Broaddus College (an American Baptist liberal arts college in Philippi, West Virginia). Annie graduated with a degree in early childhood education. Jeff graduated with a degree in Psychology.

Jeff actually began pastoral ministry during college at the age of 19. For three of the four years at the College, Jeff was a pastor at three American Baptist Churches due to the lack clergy in several mining and farming towns. This year of 2007, Jeff is celebrating 24 years of ministry as a Pastor, Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, and now a missionary!

Annie and Jeff went to Northern Baptist Seminary near Chicago where Jeff graduated with a Masters of Divinity, emphasizing evangelism and urban mission.

Upon graduation, Annie and Jeff were called to serve at Cherry Hills Baptist Church in Springfield, Illinois, as Director of Children's Ministry (Annie) and Associate Pastor and Youth Minister (Jeff). Cherry Hills was a great place to serve and be encouraged, as well further develop a heart and vision for international mission.

Then in 1994, Jeff and Annie were called by American Baptist International to serve as American Baptist missionaries in Bangkok, where they continue to serve today through their NightLight outreach ministry and other actitivies to help bring Jesus into their lives.

Financial Support for
Annie and Jeff Dieselberg

As missionaries with the American Baptist International Ministries (ABC-IM) organization, much of the financial support for our ministry comes from the annual October World Mission Offering (WMO). The WMO also supports the ABC-IM activities of over 100 of our colleagues around the world. Every dollar contributed to the WMO is used to support American Baptist global mission work. These times continue to be very financially challenging for all ABC-IM staff. Your generous giving to the WMO is especially critical. We ask that those who attend an American Baptist church prayerfully consider a generous contribution to the WMO this year.

For those who do not attend an American Baptist Church but would like to support our ministry here in Bangkok, you can send a check noted as "For the support of Annie & Jeff Dieselberg - Thailand" to:
